History of Franciscan Theology (Theology Series)
Published in Paperback by Franciscan Inst Pubs (December, 1994)
Author: Kenan Osborne
Average review score:

Excellent Starter for Franciscan Studies
This book is for anyone serious about studying the origional thought of the Franciscan school of theology or philsophy. There is such an integrated vision between the two disciplines within the Franciscan school that the text can be used for either. The thinkers covered include Alexander of Hales, St. Bonaventure, Peter John Olivi, Blessed John Duns Scotus, and William of Ockham. The core of each theologian's thought is explained with biographical information and pertinent historical details by experts in the Franciscan school from the Franciscan Institute in Bonaventure, NY. This is an excellent book for the interested scholar, or the seeker of Truth who wishes to see the world and our God through the eyes of St. Francis and his spiritual sons. As a side note, this text is also used at Franciscan University of Steubenville for their class Franciscan Traditions in Philosophy.

I Want to Know About the Church
Published in Hardcover by Zondervan (01 September, 1998)
Authors: Rick Osborne, John Osbourne, Rick Crborne, and K. Christie Bowler
Average review score:

Invaluable Resource
As a Christian Educator, I constantly search for ways to help children and adults relate their faith to the "real world." This book does a fabulous job of combining useful information in an entertaining and easy-to-comprehend format. Issues that children of this age face (such as: "Why go to church?" "Why are there different churches?" and "Why should I get involved?") are dealt with lovingly and biblically. I particularly liked the way the author dealt with the issue of denominations. Many adults will gain a new perspective of their own beliefs after reading this book. From the basics of Christianity, to church history, and even into cults, this book dares to answer the challenging questions that children often ask. I consider this book and the others in this series to be of vital importance to parents and church workers who wish to help children in their spiritual growth. You'll be surprised what YOU learn from this book!

I Want to Know About the Holy Spirit

Authors: Rick Osborne, John Osbourne, and K. Christie Bowler
Average review score:

A Wonderful Gift!
As with other books in this series, "I Want to Know About the Holy Spirit" is bibically based, beautifully written, and full of inspiration. This book about the least understood member of the Holy Trinity helps children (and adults!) understand who the Holy Spirit is, and how He relates to them. The format is engaging, exciting, and easy to understand. What a wonderful gift to give to parents and to those who work with young people within the church!

Hope you can laugh at yourself!
This play is the second I read in my life, but I am sure it is one of the best ever written!
It is witty and funny, a social satire everybody should read.
Wilde played with words and stereotypes in a wonderful manner.
Two thumbs up!

Introducing Black Theology: 3 Crucial Questions for the Evangelical Church (3 Crucial Questions)
Published in Paperback by Baker Book House (August, 2001)
Authors: Bruce L. Fields and Grant R. Osborne
Average review score:

Thanks Dr. Fields
The apostle Paul's task included providing an avenue of intentional discourse between Judaistic Jewish theologians and Christian Jewish theologians. Dr. Bruce Fields has stood on a similar ground in being instrumental in building a bridge for theological dialogue between conservative and liberal Christians who claim African ancestry. This book "Introducing Black Theology" is a must read for all Christians who seek unbiased truth. It should be placed next to works rendered by the likes of Professor Cone and other scholars who dare to deal with the ethnic orders of Christianity. Thanks Dr. Fields, we were anticipating this work. From one of your theology students from Trinity.

Introducing Sociology
Published in Paperback by Totem Books (April, 1999)
Authors: Richard Osborne, Borin Van Loon, Richard Appignanesi, and Borin Van Loon
Average review score:

A Solid Overview
It's easy to get lost in the spew of "-isms" and sub-disciplines that pervades the social sciences and humanities these days. This illustrated intro to sociology illustrates fairly clearly how we got there from a few simple questions (E.g., what is the nature of society?) The book provides a broad, historically structured overview that accounts for most of the major thinkers, from Comte and Spencer to Adorno and Baudrillard.

I've read most of the books in this series, and this is one of the best. It is concise, not condescending. And although it offers a wide range of theories and thinkers, it takes pains to distinguish between all of the information presented, even offering some comparisons between different sociological perspectives. This covers methodology, Marxism, Functionalism, Symbolic Interactionism, Chicago School, Frankfurt School, Feminism, Media Studies, Culture, and almost everything else. Of course, you only get a few paragraphs on each, but then that it what this book is designed to do...give a short introduction to each of the sub-areas as well as a general overview. The illustrations are of a fairly good quality, and while they don't really enhance a reader's understanding of the material, they help sustain interest in it.

Introduction to Microcomputers: Basic Concepts
Published in Paperback by McGraw-Hill Osborne Media (June, 1980)
Author: Adam Osborne
Average review score:

Microcomputer classic
This or one of many other equivalent 'introduction to computer' books will be useful to introduce the general reader to the concept of computation and the techniques used in commercial computers, often assumed background knowledge in other references discussing alternative computational architectures such as neural networks. This book is the revised edition of the 1976 classic that introduced the world of computation, albeit in the form of microcomputers, to thousands of readers. The binary arithmetic, CPU and memory architecture, logical operations, instruction sets and programming, are concepts that are still relevant to modern computing. At the time of this reference, Adam Osborne was a well known personal computer-related writer. In 1971 he was involved in the documentation for the Intel 4004 microprocessor, and at the time of this book was running a company manufacturing one of the first widely purchased portable microcomputer systems.

Authors: John Osborne and David Hare
Average review score:

review John Osborne Plays Three : Luther, a Patriot for Me,
Luther and A Patriot for Me are excellent plays. The passion, drama and elements of surprise and the succint turning points testify to Osborne's talent. Even better than his landmark Look Back in Anger.

Playwriting at its best.
